Questions people actually ask

Is the price above my insurance premium?

No. The figures on this page are platform fees for using InsuranceScanner. Premium is set by the insurer that takes the risk and depends on the sum insured, commodity, route, clause level and deductible — which is why it is quoted per shipment rather than listed here. Your invoice from us and your premium are separate amounts.

How is premium actually calculated?

Cargo premium is normally a rate per $100 of insured value, adjusted for commodity risk class, transport mode, route, clause level and deductible, with a minimum premium per certificate. Add-ons — war and strikes, temperature deviation, rejection — are loaded on top. Get an indicative figure for your own shipment from the quote form.

What is an open policy and when is it worth it?

An annual open policy covers all shipments you declare under it, so you stop arranging cover shipment by shipment. It usually beats per-certificate buying somewhere around 15–20 shipments a month, but the crossover depends on your rates — the analytics in the app compute it against your actual book rather than a rule of thumb.

Do you earn commission from insurers as well?

Where cover is placed through us or a broking partner, a commission may be paid by the insurer out of the premium. We will tell you the arrangement that applies to your placement on request, and Enterprise accounts can choose a commission-share model instead of a platform fee.

Can I cancel?

Yes — cancel a subscription any time from your billing page; it stops future renewals and access runs to the end of the paid period. Cancelling a subscription does not cancel insurance: cover already bound continues under the terms of the policy or certificate itself.

InsuranceScanner is an insurance intermediary, not an insurer. Cover is placed with, and underwritten by, licensed insurers; the certificate, policy schedule and wording issued by the insurer govern the cover and prevail over any summary on this site. Nothing on this page is a personal recommendation that a particular cover, sum insured or deductible is suitable for you — see the Terms for our role.
