Temperature-controlled cargo
Cover for chilled and frozen goods, conditioned on the equipment and the records.
Definition
Cargo carried in a refrigerated container or trailer, where the loss most often is deterioration rather than physical damage. Standard clauses do not cover temperature variation as such; cover is written by adding a refrigerated cargo condition, typically responding to a breakdown of the machinery for a stated minimum period, and frequently requiring a pre-trip inspection and a functioning datalogger.
Why it decides money
The datalogger download is the claim. Without a continuous temperature record it is very hard to separate a machinery breakdown from goods loaded warm or already at the end of their life.

More in what is covered
InsuranceScanner is an insurance intermediary, not an insurer — see the Terms for our role. Nothing here is a personal recommendation that a particular cover, sum insured or deductible is suitable for you. Where anything on this page conflicts with the certificate, policy schedule or wording issued by an insurer, that document governs.
